lincoln love

"the probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just."
- abraham lincoln

i may not be able to tell you who the first four presidents of the united states were, but i can tell you that out of all 44, lincoln is one of my favorites. so what if he's everyone's favorite? [everyone but maybe robert e. lee (whom did you know was related to washingtons, as in george?). too much interbreeding going on back then if you ask me.] i think lincoln was incredible, thus he is one of my faves. i mean who were you expecting me to say? william howard taft? couldn't tell you one thing he accomplished during his presidency or even when he was president. all i remember about him was that he was too large to fit in his own bathtub. now there's a legacy.

8:25 am on a Monday morning...

Dawn suddenly breaks, the light transfixing through the cracks in the window shades piercing the heavy eyelids of this weary weekend warrior. The uninvited orange glow of the new day is an all too sudden reminder of past day's mistakes and the detriment waged on his tabernacle of clay. Untried eyes ineffectively guide his hand reaching heedlessly for the phone on the night-stand. His movement is fueled by a childlike optimism that the phone might posses some remedy for this coalescence of physical and emotional suffering brought on by the abrupt awakening. He squints as the knuckle of his index finger pushes against his eyelid bringing the words: 1 New Voicemail into focus. A glimmer of hope...

Then Myrn's voice comes in on the answering machine...
(click on the words if you would like a video reenactment)

This is the story told from the perspective of the person on the other end of the call from Myrn. Sometimes, when you live like Usher Raymond or Myrn, you just gotta let it BURN and I can respect that.

a sad little man

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verne_Troyer

myrn troyer? terrible reference. unbelievable that this man had a sex-tape scandal. is it still considered a scandal if no one hears about it? how about if no one wanted to hear about it?

also, according to this, troyer was a stunt double in "baby's day out" (a crowd favorite). excitement was lessened dramatically upon learning the character he stunted for was the BABY. it's one thing to be under 3 feet tall. it's another thing to be asked to stunt double for an infant. i mean come on. that's like asking a fat kid to stunt double for free willy.

maybe we should justify the sex-tape after all. with a career like that, he could probably use a boost to his self-esteem.
